My career started in local and federal law enforcement, where I worked for 15 years across various departments, including patrol, warrants, investigation, gang suppression, mounted enforcement, and as a SWAT team sniper.

Now, as a tax accountant, I am honored to apply my specialized knowledge of law enforcement and other public service deductions to save my clients thousands of dollars each year.

In addition, my background in realty and real estate investment equips me to help clients find financial success through intelligent real estate ownership and investment decisions.

Melissa Curtis, Accountant, E.A.

Valencia

Melissa has specialized in law enforcement tax returns for over 10 years. As an Enrolled Agent, she holds the highest level of qualification recognized by the Internal Revenue Service. She has a Certificate of Accounting and has experience in bookkeeping and payroll taxes. Melissa is also a Notary Public for the State of California.

Melissa comes from a family of law enforcement and public service professionals. Her father was a Captain for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and her mother was an LASD Custody Assistant. Melissa's extensive training and experience in tax accounting and her personal relationship with law enforcement make her an excellent resource. She prepares taxes out of our Valencia office.

Duke Nguyen, Tax Associate CTEC

Duke is a certified and bonded Tax Associate who specializes in the area of law enforcement. Starting his career as a Deputy Sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, Duke is a 12-year veteran of local law enforcement. He earned his bachelor's degree from California State University, Long Beach, and is now a District Attorney Investigator for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Dave Maro, Tax Associate CTEC

Palmdale · Valencia · San Dimas

Dave has been a Tax Associate since 2004. He specializes in law enforcement tax clients and has an extensive personal background in law enforcement. During his service as a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff from 1990-1999, he worked custody at the PDC-South Facility and patrol at the East Los Angeles Station.

Currently, Dave is a District Attorney Investigator for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, where he was promoted to the rank of Supervising Investigator in 2006.
